The Tajik Language Department was established in 2002 on the basis of the Tajik Language and Literature Department. The first Head of the Tajik Language and Literature Department was the Candidate of Philology Science, Associate Professor Z. Nazarova. Later the Department was led by Dr. of Philological Science N. Ofaridaev and then by the Senior Teacher of the Tajik Language Department F. Dorgabekov.

From the establishment of the university in Tajik Language and Literature Department there taught and worked the well-known and qualified scientists of the Republic as the Dr. of Philological Science N. Ofaridaev, Professor D. Karamshoev, Professor N. Shakarmamadov, Professor M. Fayzov, Candidate of Philological Science A. Charogabdolov,  Candidate of Philological Science Z. Nazarova, A. Mirboboev, poets S. Halimsho, S. Shohzoda, A. Mirkhoja, and others.

In 2020 the Tajik Language Department separated from the Tajik Literature Department and the Head of the Tajik Language and Oriental Languages was appointed the Dr. of Philological Science Sh. Usufbekov. They made a significant contribution of the organization and development of the Department’s educational, methodological and scientific activities.  

Later on the Head of the Department appointed the Candidate of the Philology Science, Associate Professor A. Nasriddinshoev, the Candidate of the Philology Science D. Qodirov, the Candidate of the Philology Science, Associate Professor D.Fozilov, the Candidate of the Philology Science S. Qurbonmamadov, Dr. of Philology, professor M. Alamshoev and the Candidate of Philological Science S. Kholiqnazarova continued to be the Head of the department in the following years.  

At the present time the Head of the Tajik language Department is the Candidate of the Philology Science, Associate M. Broimshoeva. In Tajik language Department 14 teachers are involved in teaching and doing  scientific and research works. Among them the Dr. of Philological Science N. Ofaridaev, Dr. of Philology, professor M. Alamshoev, Dr. of Philology, professor S. Abodulloeva, the Candidate of the Philology Science, Associate D.Fozilov, the Candidate of the Philology Science, Associate A. Nasriddinshoev, the Candidate of the Philology Science, Associate M. Broimsheva, the Candidate of the Philology Science, Associate B. Jumaeva, Senior Trainers M. Mirzohasanova, S. Shosafoeva, f. Zoolshoeva, Assistant D. Fozilova are carrying out the effective and valuable work and activities in the process of education and promotion of scientific-research works.

Today the high qualified and experienced teachers are training student from various specialties in the sphere of philology  like N. Ofaridaev, S. Abodulloeva, D. Fozilov, A. Nasriddinshoev, M. Broimsheva, G. Rahmatulloeva, B. Jumaeva, N. Qambarov, s. Mirzoshoev and  same others.
