The department of bio-ecology and tourism was established in 2016 on the basis of the department of botany and plant physiology. The head of the department is candidate of geography science Karamkhudoev Halim Yelchibekovich.
Currently, 2 doctors of biological sciences, professors Mamadrizokhonov Akbar Alikhonovich and Navruzshoev Dovutsho, 3 candidates of science associate professors Sodatkadamova Tahmina Mabatkadamovna, Gulomnabiev Dildor Gulomhaydarovich and Karamkhudoev Halim Yelchibekovich, 3 senior teachers – Davlatbekova Suhaylo Khudoyorbekovna, Tavkalova Gulazor Payshambievna, Mamadamonova Guloro Nazarkhudoevna, and 11 assistants Nazarbekova Ramziya Maramatshoevna, Dustmamadova Gulnora Jangikovna, Payshambieva Manizha Lashkarbekovna, Kholmamadov Asad Avobekovich, Mirshoeva Marziya Kabutarshoevna, Kalandarbekova Firuza Sadulloevna, Navruzbekov Temur Davlatshoevich, Raqamova Zarrina Rijabekovna, Sodatkadamova Muslima Olimjonovna, Latifi Parvina, and department assistant Khushnazarova Oinamo Sodatnazarovna are teaching students at the department.
Department of bio-ecology and tourism for specialties 1-890101 – tourism and hospitality, 1-020405-03 – geography, basics of economy, 1-020402 – geography-education and at the master’s level bio-ecologist, is considered as a specialized department. The faculty of the department conducts scientific-research activities in the direction of “Study of problems of protection and rational use of Pamir natural resources”. Based on the results of scientific work, 3 textbooks, 4 monographs, more than 30 methodological manuals, 600 scientific articles were published by the teachers of the department. The department with the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Department of Tourism Development of the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of the Ministry of Education, Faculty of Geography of the Pedagogical University of Tajikistan named after S. Ainy, Pamir Biological Research Institute of Tajikistan, Faculty of Geology of the National University of Tajikistan, Faculty of Earth Sciences of the University of Central Asia, The Pamir Cultural Ecotourism Association, the Department of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan and others are closely related.
