The Tajik Philology Department is one of the first faculties of Khorog State University named after Academician M.Nazarshoev which has been established in 1992. The Tajik Philology Department has a high intellectual aspect and currently 28 professors, trainers and teachers are engaged in educating and teaching the students. There are 4 Doctors of Science and professors, 12 Candidates of Science, Associate Professor, 6 Senior Trainers and 7 Assistants are among them. There are also work 4 employees in the faculty.   

The Tajik Philology Department prepares specialists in Tajik language and Literature, Tajik language and Literature- family life, Tajik language and Literature-English, Journalism and Persian language in internal and on-line departments.  

Currently 129 students are studying   in the internal courses of the department of the faculty, from which 107 students are studying in the budget groups, 22 in the commercial groups and 6 students are studying according to the Presidential quota.  There are also 8 Master Degree students and 2 PhD students are studying at this faculty.

There are 3 Departments are in the faculty; the Tajik Language Department – the Head of this Department is the Candidate of the Philological Science M. Broinshoeva, the Department of Literature and Journalism- the Head of the Department is the Candidate of the Philological Science Qambarov N, the Department of Oriental Languages- the Head of the Department is the Candidate of Philological Science Jumaeva B.

There are also work 3 scientific clubs in the faculty under the names of         “Gulafshon”, “Zabonshinosi” and “Sukhanshinosi” where the students and teachers  take part regularly. 

Over the 30 years the trainers of the faculty have published many books and scientific monographs associated to the problems of the Tajik language and Literature, Folklore, Oriental Literature and Pamirian Languages’. The teachers of the faculty take part in the scientific seminars and conferences in the Republic and abroad as well.

The graduators of the faculty work as officials in the government and non-government organizations.

Since the establishment of the faculty the Dean of the faculty was the Dr. of Philology Science N. Ofaridaev ( 2004-2005), the Candidate of the Philology Science L. Davlatbekov ( 2006-2007), the Candidate of the Philology Science R. Shofaqirova ( April 2007-December 2007), the Candidate of the Philology Science A. Nasriddinshoev (2007-2012; 2015-2022), and from September 2022 until now the  Philology Faculty is lead by the Candidate of the Philology Science, Associate Professor G. Rahmatulloeva.
