Bremen, Germany – Representatives from Khorog State University (KSU) successfully participated in a seminar in Bremen, Germany, as part of the large-scale project “Green Deal for Central Asian Universities” (GDCAU), supported by the Erasmus+ programme.

The GDCAU project unites 13 universities from Europe and Central Asia, aiming to promote sustainable development, adapt institutional strategies to the European Green Deal, and strengthen partnerships between academia and industry.

KSU was represented by Tojigul Mardonova and Sodatkamadova Tahmina, who presented the university’s key efforts in implementing “green” standards.

KSU’s Key Projects and Announcements:

  • Curriculum Development (WP3): The presentation focused on developing academic courses centered on sustainable development and the green economy. KSU announced the development of a new Bachelor’s course, “Climate Change, Water Resources, and Adaptation.” The university plans to introduce and update a range of courses, including “Renewable Energy Solutions,” “Environmental Management,” and “Sustainable Use of Natural Resources.”

  • Centre Establishment and Cooperation (WP2, 4): The imminent creation of the Regional Green Deal Centre (GDCentre) at KSU was announced. Focus on Ecology:

KSU’s participation in the GDCAU project underscores its commitment to the goals of sustainable development. The presentations highlighted that the intensive use of non-renewable energy sources negatively affects the climate and leads to resource depletion. KSU already hosts the “Green Observers” club, which is actively involved in promoting sustainable behavior and environmental awareness among students.
